Know which identifier you have

A name in a conversation, a public @username and a web link are different things. Start by identifying which one you have. “Alex” is a broad clue; a specific public handle is much more useful. A creator’s own link also gives you context about where the destination came from.

Telegram documents public usernames and t.me links as ways to reach accounts. That does not make every similar-looking result the same person. Treat the exact spelling as important, especially if the account has a common name or a widely copied profile picture.
